Case Watkins, Fulbright Scholar and Ph.D. Student

LSU doctoral candidate in the Department of Geography & Anthropology Case Watkins recently received a prestigious IIE Graduate Fellowship for International Study (formerly, Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program) to conduct a yearlong research project on sustainable agriculture practices in Bahia, Brazil.

G&A offering new Ph.D. option starting Fall 2013

Starting this semester, entering Ph.D. students will receive their degree in Geography and Anthropology. Students who enrolled prior to Fall 2013 will have the option to either keep the Ph.D. in Geography (with the option for a concentration in Anthropology) or to change their major to Geography and Anthropology.

G&A’s Craig Colten to participate in International Conference on Infrastructure and Equity

Dr. Craig Colten, Carl O. Sauer Professor of Geography, has been invited to speak at the Infrastructure and Equity Conference in Bogota, Columbia, on Aug. 21. The principal host and organizer is Columbia Humanitaria, a federal agency created in the wake of disastrous La Nina floods in 2010-2011, which guides relief and rehabilitation in the wake of disasters and fosters strong institutional and financial strategies to face future hazard events.
